Ground Breaking for China Aid Popua Road Upgrade Project Featured

Nuku'alofa, 27 July 2015. A ground breaking ceremony was held for Popua road upgrade project with the presence of H.E. Huang Huaguang, Ambassador of China and three members of Parliament, Lord Fusitu'a, Mr. Mateni Tapueluelu and Mr.Penisimani Fifita. The officials and villagers from Popua also join the ceremony.

The project aims to improve the road condition of Popua coastal area and protect the locals from the high level of sea water. In his remarks, H.E. Mr. Huang said, the Government of Tonga attaches great importance to people’s livelihood and make it one of their priorities.
Chinese government is willing to support this efforts. Road is closely linked our daily life and is keen to people’s living standard. In order to support the community building in Popua and its residents’ daily life, Chinese government decided to support the Popua road upgrade project.

The project is one of the community projects supported the Government of China. The road for upgrading is about 300 meters long.
