I am writing to you in the hopes that you will make it more public that the people of Tonga and the Government are loosing hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.
There are several whale watch operators that only operate for the 12 week period - all their customers pay for their tours in Australian/New Zealand currency into these companies off-shore bank accounts.
They bring in their own boats and their own crew. These operators are granted Whale Watch Licenses and the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism & Labour think they make lots of money by granted these WW licenses. These operators are earning in excess on $400,000.00 Australian dollars per year - they do not pay Tongan income Tax, they do not pay CT tax.
They come into Tonga - make lots of money off a Tongan natural Resource and then leave without giving anything to the Tongan people.
This needs to stop.
