President of the Australian Senate, President Stephen Parry, is currently conducting official visit in Tonga from 16 to 18 April 2015 to observe Australian funded cooperative aid projects in the kingdom.

With an extensive policing background, President Parry is particularly interested in initiatives progressed under the partnership between the Government of Tonga, Australia and New Zealand that support the development of capacity and operational capability of Tonga Police, namely the Tonga Police Development Program (TPDP).

During his official visit, President Parry attended Tonga Police Headquarters on 17 April 2015 where he met the Acting Commissioner Viliami ‘Unga Fa’aoa, Tonga Police senior Executive members, AFP TPDP Mission Commander, Superintendent Scott Moller, and other advisors to discuss TPDP projects. President Parry then conducted a tour of the Longolongo Police Compound, including the Transnational Crime Unit, Professional Standards Unit, Tonga Police Training College and the construction site of the police barracks funded by the TPDP.

Additionally, President Parry also visited Central Police Station and conducted a tour of the Custody Processing Centre, the Police Communications Centre, the Forensic Laboratory and the Operations Room.
