Government of Tonga sent Letter of Condolences to the Government and People of Japan Featured

Nuku'alofa, 22 April 2016. The Hon. Prime Minister of Tonga, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva has sent on April 14, 2016, a Letter of Condolences to the Hon Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency, Mr Shizo Abe, on behalf of the Government and People of the Kingdom of Tonga.

In his letter, the Hon. Prime Minister said:

“I am profoundly saddened to learn of the catastrophic earthquake that struck the Kumamoto Prefecture on 14 April, 2016, resulting in the loss of lives, many people severely wounded and displaced from the extensive damage to infrastructure and property in the area.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Kingdom of Tonga, I offer our deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the people of Japan.

May you have great courage and strength in your rescue and rebuild efforts- with hope that the situation will return to normal as soon as possible.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time. ”
