Tonga NOC marked Olympic Day with church service Featured

The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) marked the celebration of Olympic Day 2019 with a church service attended by members of Team Tonga for the XVI Pacific Games at the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga (FWCT) Centennial church in Nuku’alofa yesterday, Sunday 23rd (which is the actual date for Olympic Day).
Their Majesties, King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u were present and members of the noble of the realm as well as representative and delegates of the church from overseas who had come for the upcoming annual church conference which starts this week.
There were more than eighty odd members of Team Tonga in attendance and was led by Chef de Mission, Ms Netina Latu and General Team Manager, ‘Amanaki Fakakovikaetau and assisted by Team Officials of twenty two sports that would travel to Samoa at the beginning of July.
The sermon was conducted by Rev. Feke Kamitoni (of the Australian chapter) and he conducted a special dedication and well wishes for the Team for the upcoming Pacific Games as well as marking the Olympic Day 2019 (which falls on 23rd June).
One notable assistants to the readings for the sermon was former Australian Wallaby player and flanker, Rev. Viliami ‘Ofahengaue.
The singing was led by the combined FWCT Women choir of the Kolomotu’a District.
