Pride and Empowerment through Promotions Recognition – A First for the Tonga Police

12 October 2022. Among the new initiatives introduced by Commissioner of Police Shane McLennan is to give recognition and to celebrate promotions of Police members.

In an official program on Monday, 3 October 2022, Tonga Police held its first ever ceremony at the Police Headquarters at Longolongo in recognition of its members who got promoted since mid-May 2022 when Commissioner McLennan commences in office.

A total of fourteen police officers were recognized at this event including:

a) 9 officers were promoted to Sergeant

d) 3 officers were promoted to Superintendent

Aiming to cultivate pride and inspire members in the performance of their public safety functions in addition to recognition of achievements, the Promotion Recognition Ceremony (PRC) will be an ongoing official event for Tonga Police.

The intent is to hold a PRC quarterly where families of promoted members will be invited to join the Police Family in celebrating these members achievements and promoting our spirit in which we operate of One Team Same Team.

The next PRC is planned for the beginning of January 2023.
