Chinese Embassy Gifted New Toyota Land Cruisers to Tonga Police
24 December 2022. Commissioner of Police Shane McLennan and members of his Senior Leadership Team warmly welcomed His Excellency Cao Xiaolin, the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga at the Tonga Police Headquarters, Longolongo on 13 December.
The Chinese Ambassador, accompanied by one of his Embassy staff, purposefully attended to present and handover two brand new Toyota Land Cruisers to the Tonga Police.
These new vehicles were donated under funding assistance from China’s Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau. His Excellency in his remarks acknowledged the strong ties between China and Tonga since the establishment of their official diplomatic relations in 1998.
They believe in helping others to help themselves and they are providing aid to Tonga in various areas including providing this particular support among others to the Tonga Police.
Commissioner McLennan in his appreciation speech thanked the Chinese Ambassador and the Government of the People’s Republic of China for their generous support through funding several development projects for Tonga Police.
He added that these two new vehicles will support Tonga Police to effectively deliver on their legal responsibilities and policing services to the people of Tonga.
Both vehicles will be deployed to support Tonga Police’s Tactical Response and Close Personal Protection Teams. Also attended at the occasion were the Tonga Police Band and the members of the Lord Fielakepa Recruit Wing.
