29 July, 2016. The the vanillin content of vanilla beans grown during the 2015 Vava’u vanilla harvest is among the world best. After 5 months of careful and slow curing in Vava’u, the vanilla beans finally arrived into Brisbane in early 2016.

After an extensive extraction and maturation period, Queen now have processed these vanilla beans. According to Queen company in Queensland, thier technical team has discovered that the vanillin content of the beans from the 2015 harvested crop was 2.4%.

The quality of vanilla beans, worldwide are principally measured by this vanillin content value. A 2.4% result is super, and is comparable to some of the world best vanilla from alternative producing regions.

"This is truly a great result and we’d like to thank all VGA members for the care and effort put in to producing such world class vanilla", says Sam Himstedt of Queen Company.

Queen in a letter to Vanilla Growers Association (Vava'u) Inc (VGA) members thanks VGA members and for their effort and encourge them to produce more successful results in the future. Queen also wants VGA to share this success story with the other stack holders involved in the restoration of the Vanilla industry in Tonga.

According to Queen,  MAFFF, DFAT and Fairtrade are happy about these results as they demonstrate one of the major outcomes and, quality, is being achieved. All the efforts relating to auditing, training and inspections are proving to be worthwhile.
