More people arrested for possession of illicit drugs

16 November, 2020. The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce have arrested and charged ten (10) people with possession of illicit drugs between the 25 of October and the 13 of November 2020 from five different locations in Tongatapu, in an ongoing operation targeting drug dealers and suppliers.

Police also seized 5.86 grams of methamphetamine, 2.92 grams of cannabis, 3 $50 pa’anga counterfeit money, over $1,900 in cash and drug utensils.

The ten accused, nine men and one woman between the aged of 23 to 52 will appear at the Magistrate Court later this week.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea says that Police are committed to disrupt and detect the supply of drugs and hold those responsible to account.
