Nuku'alofa, 1 July 2015.  Her Royal Highness, Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Halaevalu Mata’aho Tuku’aho on Monday night 29th June 2015, Guest of Honor at the beginning of a program that runs parallel to the coronation main events.

This program is hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Government of Tonga, and will be undertaking at the Fa’onelua Convention Centre every day until Friday the 10th of July 2015.

The very theme of the program is that “To Forever stand the Crown of Tonga” or Ketu’uloa ‘a e Kalauni ‘o Tonga.

In a sense, Tonga is dubbed to be the only Constitutional Monarchical Government in the South Pacific to have experienced and therefore survived under its ruling system through to the 21st century.

And the significant factors associated with the prolongation of the success of Tonga’s governmental system and the reign of the monarchs to date may seem to have embedded within the relationships between the ruled and the rulers. In that regard, the empowerment of the ordinary people to exercise their “freedom of religion” under the supremacy of the constitution, for instance, speaks in itself on that matter.

However, and apart from the presence of the Guest of Honor, Hon Lupepau’u Tuita Taione, the Hon Prime Minister, Hon Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva, Nobles of the realm, Cabinet Ministers, Diplomatic Corps, Chief Secretary and Secretary for Cabinet as well as people from different walks of life including foreigners, attended the opening of this 12 days program.

The Hon Minister for Ministry of Internal Affairs did the welcoming speech of the occasion before the Guest of Honor, Her Royal Highness, Princess Angelika Latufui peka Halaevalu Mata’aho Tuku’aho made the speech of the night.

The main event of the night’s program was the exhibition of historical craftsmanship of the Tu’I Tonga, Missionaries and other artistic works made by well-known Tongans in History.
