Nalesoni Tupou, When I raised this issue of the sale of the Tonga Forests Ltd, Viliami Taufa informed me that this sale was justified as there are debts to be paid and that "I should know better " ..He said this was a great occasion as this Maori tribe from New Zealand had the money of $9,000,000.00 to pay the Tongan Government and in turn the Government will be able to pay the debts of Tonga Forests Ltd.
The impression I got from Viliami Taufa was that this Maori tribe from New Zealand was the best option available as they will pay $9,000,000.00 immediately but we know now that only about $2 million plus had been paid..More to b paid later .
Nevertheless, Viliami told me " You should know better, Nalesoni " for making such cautious comments about the sale...it is sad..
Well..Hon.Poasi Tei is the Minister for this sale of Tonga Forests Ltd..After recent events in Tonga and in here in New Zealand, whereby the Tongan Government should be concerned about.
I now put a high degree of blame about these shortcomings upon the Hon Minister, his Ministry, his advisers and his staff..and more particularly upon the people who negotiate this transactions on behalf of the Government.
It is also of interest as to who are the associates of this questionable Maori..who did the lobbying on his behalf to the Tongan Government.”
