The act of resigning from office due to your own wrong doing or the people whom you supervised shows your leadership skills and taking responsibilities for the performance of your organization.
In America, leaders of fail companies or corrupted Sheriff will always resign on their own due to the media publicizing of the criminal acts or the outcry from the public. The difference in a situation like this in Tonga, the leaders does not have the maturity to recognize the expectations when they hold such a role. Often, the dominant cultural mentality is, my way or the highway. That is the mentality of this fellow we are talking about. So, resignation is not on his mind. Differentiate that, if I were the Minister of Police, I would resign in a heartbeat. Why, because I learned that in America.
On a side note, I always allege, Tonga cannot be running with native Tongan experiences. Why? Tonga is like a $500M company operation in NZ or Auzzie. Remind you, Tonga GDP is slightly lower than 500M. It takes the mentality and experiences of a person residing in those developed countries to run such a company. Tonga is no difference. So, you need to import Tongan with that foreign experiences to run Tonga. It is that simple. -
