Four prisoners arrested in Vava'u for possession of illicit drugs

23 November, 2018. Police in Vava’u investigated report received from the Ha’alefo Prison of cannabis pot plants found within the Prison Comboud on Friday 16th of November 2018.

Police Investigation led to the arrest of four current prisoners on Tuesday 20th of November.

Two prisoners, a 26-year-old man from Ha’alaufuli Vava’u was arrested and charged with the possesion of 6 cannabis pot plants and a 29-years old man from Tatakamotonga Tongatapu was arrested and charged with the possesion of 5 cannabis pot plants.

The other two prisoners, a 27-year-old man from Vaini Tongatapu and a 20-year-old- man from Mataika Tongatapu were arrested and charged with manufacture of 4 litres of homebrew.

Police acknowledge the assistance by prison officers of Ha’alefo Prison which led to the arrest of the 4 suspects.

Police Investigation continues.
