15 February, 2017. A 35-member business delegation from New Zealand arrives in Tonga on 15 February to explore opportunities for business investment and strengthen business links between New Zealand and Tonga.

The delegation includes representatives from a range of sectors including energy, construction, engineering, infrastructure, health, education and tourism. Matua Shane Jones, New Zealand’s Ambassador for Pacific Economic Development, will accompany the delegation.

“New Zealand investors are looking forward to seeing first-hand the unique business opportunities that Tonga has to offer” says New Zealand High Commissioner Sarah Walsh. “The business mission will strengthen economic and person to person links between New Zealand and Tonga”.

“This is a great opportunity for the Tongan government and the local business community to interact and engage in investment dialogues and possible joint ventures between New Zealand and Tongan businesses” says Acting Chief Executive of the Ministry of Commerce, Consumer, Trade, Investment and Labour, Ms Kolotia Fotu.

The four day business mission will include an address by Deputy Prime Minister Hon Siaosi Sovaleni, presentations by senior government leaders, business networking events, one-to-one meetings, site visits and a business exhibition where New Zealand and Tongan businesses will showcase their products and services for export.

The business exhibition will be held on Saturday 18 February from 9am – 12pm at the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel and will be open to the public.
