“ TNRL STANDS FOR INDEPENDENT RUGBY GOVERNING BODY FREE OF GOVERNMENT CORRUPTED CONTROL. There's too much control by government leaders on Tonga's sports organizations. With due respect Speaker of the House Hon. Fakafanua and MP Semisi Sika are grabbing for too much government control.
Government control is "centralized planning" where government officials assume power without expert knowledge and commitment. Aren't they busy enough with their parliamentarian challenges with Tonga's impoverished economy?
William Edwards of TNRL stands for non-governmental interference in a free-enterprise organization. Whatever problems they have Tonga does not need government to stick its nose in every aspect of people's lives. It encourages people's dependency on government for handouts, and problem solving.
Non-governmental organizations need support but not administration domination by government. They are managed by expert business and risk takers. Traditionally, Tongan Rugby have always been managed, coached, and played by non-paid independent leaders. Players were freelance athletes and non-government employees.
Modern athletes are employed by their professional sports categories. Let's allow them to grow in their profession in the free marketplace. We don't need government elected-officials' control because they are not qualified experts in the business of sports. There are countless responsibilities for them to use their talents and solve Tonga's social and impoverished economic problems. ”
