The President and Executive Director of the Pacific Games Council are just back from Nuku'alofa, where they went to check on progress, ahead of the 2019 Games which Tonga is due to host.

The President, Vidhya Lakhan, says he's pleased to see that Prime Minister Akilisi Pohiva is now involved in overseeing his government's commitment and ensuring the necessary funding support for the Games is secured.

Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan and 2015 hosts Papua New Guinea have all pledged to put money into developing venues, but the Pacific Games Council's Executive Director, Andrew Minogue says those pledges have to be turned into binding contracts as quickly as possible.
