Chinese New Year: Are you a rat, a monkey or a pig?

5 February, 2016. Are you a rat, a monkey, or a pig? Or perhaps even a lucky sheep?. Monday 1st February 2016 marks the start of the Chinese Lunar New Year, when the Chinese zodiac sign will change from sheep to monkey.

The monkey is the ninth animal of the 12 Chinese zodiac signs. The others are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, chicken, dog and pig. The new year will be lucky for those born under the sign of the sheep as chinese traditions stated.

As in Western astrology, each sign is associated with certain characteristics. Refer to the table below find out which animal you are, your ideal job, your perfect partner, and which well-known names you share your sign with.

Which Chinese Zodiac sign are you? Your sign is derived from the year you were born in the Chinese lunar calendar.

The years below are a rough guide, but if you were born in January or February it may be slightly different as the new year moves between 21 January and February 20.
