Prime Minister meets LDS Pacific Area Presidency in New Zealand

14 February 2024. The Prime Minister of Tonga, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku met with Elder Peter F. Meurs, President of the Pacific Area Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auckland’s North Shore early this week.

The Prime Minister and the Area Presidency had the opportunity to discuss many initiatives including poverty reduction, school meals, education, records management digitization, and technical and vocational education opportunities.

Concerted efforts between the Government and the Church continue to deepen, after the recent volcanic eruption and tsunami incident of Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha’apai, the collaboration and cooperation in humanitarian assistance and building resilience of communities.
