Prime Minister attends PIDF meeting in Fij

Nuku'alofa, 2 September 2015. The Prime Minister will lead Tonga’s delegation to the 3rd Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) Leaders’ Summit which will be held in Suva, Fiji from the 1st – 4th September 2015.

The theme for the Summit is “Building Climate Resilient Green Blue Pacific Economies”.

Climate Change will be the main issue that will be discussed at the summit as well as the appointment of the first Permanent Secretary General for PIDF, launching of the first Regional Development Fund under the PIDF.  They will also discuss the promulgation of the PIDF Charter by the People of the Pacific that will formally establish the PIDF as an International Organization.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Chief Secretary & Secretary to Cabinet,  CEO for MEIDECC, and Deputy Secretary 'Eti Teumohenga from the Prime Minister’s Office.
