Hon. Lavulavu Hon. Lavulavu

Nuku'alofa, 31 July 2015. The Hon. Minister for Infrastructure and Tourism, Mr. Etuate Lavulavu, wishes to make a public apology to everyone affected by the issue of picking up rubbish on Sunday.

There was no intention at all by the Hon. Minister to breach the Sunday Law, but to ensure that Tonga was kept clean and beautiful at all times, especially after a Saturday evening when rubbish is often strewn all over the streets and public places.

The Hon. Minister deeply regrets the action he took, and seeks the pardon of all. The Hon. Minister is also grateful to everyone who contributed to keeping Tonga clean and beautiful, especially during the Coronation of Their Majesties.

He has been happy and very proud to receive good feedback from visitors and locals alike on the cleanliness of Tonga, and hopes that everyone will maintain the good spirit to continue the campaign for the “Keep Tonga Clean and Beautiful”.

The Hon. Minister further kindly seeks the assistance of the public and community to pick up their rubbish after Saturday events so that Sundays will continue to be spotlessly clean.
