Hon. Prime Minister of Tonga attends Samoa’s 53rd Independence Celebration

Nuku'alofa, 2 June 2015. The Hon Prime Minister of Tonga, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva, accepted the official invitation from the Hon. Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi to attend the commemoration of the 53rd Independence Celebrations of the Independent State of Samoa from the 31 May to 1 June.

The Hon. Prime Minister attended the official programme for the commemoration which started with a national religious thanksgiving service on the evening of 31 May. On Monday 1 June, there will be a Flag Raising ceremony and March the Post parade to be followed by the Independence Lunch function and traditional cultural entertainment.
 
While in Samoa, the Hon. Prime Minister will also meet the Tongan community in Samoa, including the Tongan students at Alafua Agricultural School, USP Campus. He will also have an official meeting with the Hon. Prime Minister of Samoa, which will include presentation of gifts.
 
The Hon Prime Minister is accompanied by the Hon. Minister for Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries (MAFFF), Hon Semisi Fakahau; Chief Secretary and Secretary for Cabinet, Dr. Palenitina Langa’oi and Mrs. Nunia Mone, Deputy Secretary, MAFFF.
 
The Hon. Prime Minister of Tonga and the Tongan delegations will arrive back into the Kingdom on Wednesday 3rd June 2015.
