The Hon Prime Minister, ‘Akilisi Pohiva, launched a new feature of learning music on the internet by using newly introduced notations invented by Mr Victor Mataele, a known Tongan Musician.

Mr Mataele has been conducting researches in this area since the past fifteen years or more, and is now willing to display the uniqueness of his findings to the Tongan public and the world, for people who are interested in learning music to use his new formula.

According to Victor, he said his music is the “easiest music notation” for use. He also indicated that he requested the attention and presence of the Prime Minister at this initiative because it was his dream and wishes to nationalize the introduction of this music notation at schools in Tonga. As the Hon Prime Minister is also Minister for Education, Victor presents his work knowing that it will be put to test in the music community at the national arena before any positive steps can be taken.

After Victor’s presentation, though quite technical to the extent of its newness, the Prime Minister and those who were present at this special occasion were impressed with the compatibility of the theory and practice.

Victor has been assisted by the founder of the Tau’olunga Computer, Kik Velt together with his work colleague, Sione Langi, in programming his music notation into the computer and internet. The programming of his music notation had been successfully installed into the midi file, and is now up and running.

He reiterated that for children in Tonga and around the world it would be more sustainable for them to learn piano or guitar by using his “easiest music notation” than permitting the negative effects of games into their favor.

He also stated that playing Tongan Hymns and other songs under his new music notation, highlights the reality of his invention, which is dubbed as the “easiest music notation”.

Victor has also established a website on the net, which is www.victorysmusic.com for people arround the world to visit.

As a consequence, the Hon Prime Minister accepted and praised the commitment and tireless efforts being put into this initiative, and indicated to Victor and his colleagues that the so called “easiest music notation” would be put and presented to the Music Committee of the education community in Tonga.

The Hon Prime Minister also suggested that they could take this initiative to the Director of AFPA of Atenisi Institute, Sisi’uno Helu Langi, for further discussion and consultation.
