Dr Opeti Pulotu appointed as TNQAB new Chief Executive Officer Featured
2 March, 2020. The Board of Directors for the Tonga National Qualifications and Accreditation Board (TNQAB) announced the appointment of Dr Opeti Pulotu as the new Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect from Friday 21st February 2020.
The appointment follows approval by the Minister for Education and Training in Cabinet.
The Minister for Education and Training Hon. Siaosi Sovaleni said “the recruitment carried out a competitive selection process assessing both local and international candidates.
The interview panel valued Dr. Pulotu’s experience as a senior staff of TNQAB and his technical knowledge and recommended him as the most appropriate candidate to lead TNQAB.”
Dr Pulotu of Toula, Vava’u, recognised for his talent, served as the Principal Qualifications Officer at TNQAB since its establishment and has an intimate understanding of educational assessment, registration, approval and accreditation of programmes.
He is also well known to the training providers.
Recently, he successfully completed a highly relevant PhD in Educational Assessment from Durham University in the United Kingdom.
The priority for the Board and the task ahead for Dr. Pulotu is to ensure the quality assurance of all post-compulsory education and training programmes, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes.
He will also continue to lead the efforts of the Board, for their accredited programmes, to be accepted by more international educational systems.
The Board wishes to acknowledge the services of Mrs Pauline Moa, Deputy CEO for leading TNQAB over the years to date on an acting capacity.
